Product History
Moveware the Product, had its origins back in the mid 80’s when a company called CB Systems was hired to develop an operations system for Kent Moving & Storage. The original product was a Unix-based system and initially provided basic invoicing and accounting functions. Over time the application was enhanced to incorporate the functionality required by a multi branch domestic and international business.
Several other companies adopted the system including many members of the Chess group in Australia and by the mid 90’s the product was being used by more than a dozen clients.
By the late 90’s the product had outgrown its capabilities and it was time to modernise and it was decided to redevelop in a Windows Environment. Mark Fitzpatrick from CB Systems continued to be the driver of the product and with the help of a steering committee , a total redevelopment of the product commenced with the first implementations of the new product occurring in mid 1999. Removals 2000 as it had come to be known then continued to be enhanced and by early 2001 had been implemented in approximately 25 companies.
Around that time Mark sold the rights of the product to Dean and Tony Kent who rebadged the product as Moveware and continued the development. Many new features were added driven by the needs of their expanding client base. In around 2005 a total redevelopment of the Accounting side of the product was undertaken with multi company, multi currency and improved integration with the core application.
Add on Products such as MoveSurvey, a tablet based estimating tool soon followed and more recent times B2B Web based products such as MoveClient and MovePartner have enhanced the popularity of the product. Today Moveware is used by over 100 worldwide companies with installations around the globe.
